با افزایش بیماری سرطان و عوارض جانبی درمان­ های رایج محققان به دنبال یافتن روش ­های درمانی با کمترین عوارض هستند به همین علت گیاهان دارویی اهمیت بالایی پیدا کرده اند. گیاه پرسیاوشان (Adiantum capillus-veneris L.) دارای ترکیبات تری ترپنوئیدی است که خاصیت ضدتومور دارند. هدف این مطالعه بررسی اثر کشندگی عصارۀ گیاه بر ردۀ سلولی سرطان پستان (MCF-7) و سلول های نرمال فیبروبلاست (MRC-5) با استفاده از روش MTT است. گیاه پرسیاوشان از روستای مرزون آباد جمع­ آوری و در دمای C° ٤٠ خشک شد. با استفاده از دستگاه سوکسله و اتانول ٩٦ درصد از بخش هوایی و زیرزمینی گیاه  پرسیاوشان عصارۀ هیدروالکلی تهیه و از این عصاره سه فراکسیون هگزان، کلروفرم واتیل استات آماده شد. همچنین، با استفاده از عصارۀ هیدروالکلی آن، ترکیبات گیاه توسط دستگاه GC-Mass شناسایی شد. نتایج حضور ترکیبات پلی­فنلی، ترپنویید، اسیدهای چرب، موم، الکالویید، ترکیبات N- اکسید و فیبررا نشان می­دهد که این گیاه دارای خاصیت آنتی­ اکسیدانی قوی است. نتایج آزمایش MTT نشان داد که از یک طرف این عصاره اثر کشندگی وابسته به دوز بر سلول ­های MCF-7 دارد و قادر به از بین بردن سلول­ های سرطانی بوده و از طرف دیگر اثر آن بر سلول­ های سرطانی بیشتر از ردۀ نرمال است. همچنین میزان IC50 عصاره ­های بخش هوایی و زیرزمینی روی هر دو رده تفاوت معناداری را نشان می­دهند. خواص کشندگی آن قابل مقایسه با داروی ضدسرطان سیس پلاتین است.
