روش Community Level Physiological Profiles (CLPP) از جمله روش­های نوین در ارزیابی تنوع و فعالیت متابولیکی باکتری­ها در اکوسیستم­ها است. بر اساس نتایج تحقیقات انجام شده، پلی بتا هیدروکسی بوتیرات (PHB) به عنوان یک عامل بیوکنترل، باعث افزایش تنوع باکتریایی در سیستم گوارش برخی از گونه­ های آبزی شده است. در این تحقیق تاثیر استفاده از PHB و ترکیب دو گونه از باکتری تجزیه کننده آن از سرده Acidovorax  در 4 تیمار تحقیقاتی (کنترل، ترکیب دو باکتری تجزیه کننده، % 2 PHB و ترکیب دو باکتری + %2 PHB) بر فعالیت متابولیکی باکتری­های قابل کشت بی هوازی ، در بچه ماهیان تاسماهی سیبری با روش CLPP بررسی شد. نتایج نشان داد که پتانسیل فعالیت باکتری­های بی هوازی در تیمار2% PHB نسبت به سایر تیمارها متفاوت است و استفاده از این بیوپلاستیک باعث افزایش فعالیت متابولیکی باکتری­های بی هوازی در انتهای روده می شود. همچنین نتایج نشان داد که باکتری­های بی­ هوازی انتهای روده در بچه ماهیان تغذیه شده با این تیمار، دارای بالاترین فعالیت متابولیکی بر روی منابع کربنی اسید آمینه، کربوهیدرات و کربوکسیلیک اسیدها در میکروپلت ­ها بودند. نتایج این تحقیق نشان داد که استفاده از 2% PHB باعث افزایش فعالیت متابولیکی باکتری­های بی ­هوازی انتهای روده می شود و اضافه کردن باکتری­های تجزیه کننده آن بنا به دلایل نامعلوم تاثیری در افزایش این فعالیت ندارد.
