یکی از روش‌هایی که از طریق آن می­توان مقاومت به شوری در گیاه را بهبود بخشید بیان بیشینه ژن‌هایی است که بوسیله تنش شوری القا می‌شوند و در برقراری تعادل یونی و اسمزی در گیاه نقش ایفا می‌کنند. ژن SOS3 یکی از مهم‌ترین ژن‌های مسیر SOS است، بنابراین افزایش بیان این ژن می­تواند قدم مهمی در تولید گیاهان مقاوم به شوری باشد. در این پژوهش رقم­های متفاوت گوجه‌فرنگی (Solanum lycopersicum) بواسطه آگروباکتریوم دارای پلاسمید حاوی ژن SOS3 تراریخت شد که بیشترین درصد تراریختی مربوط به برگ لپه‌ای رقم Falat CH بود. استفاده همزمان لپه­ها و هیپوکوتیل در محیط کشت در هنگام آغشتگی بهترین نتیجه را حاصل کرد. علاوه بر این بهترین زمان برای همکشتی، یک روز بعد از تلقیح مشخص گردید و همچنین بهترین سویه آگروباکتریوم جهت تراریختی، سویه GV3101 تشخیص داده شد که می­ توان این امر را به دلیل اثر متقابل نژاد آگروباکتریوم و رقم گوجه ­فرنگی دانست. استفاده از آهن سکسترون در محیط کشت گیاهان تراریخت به طور مشخص باعث سبزی گیاهان و تسریع در رشد آن­ها گردید. در نهایت با توجه به نتایج مولکولی، حضور ژن SOS3 در گیاهان تراریخت به وسیله PCR و RT-PCR تایید شد که نشانگر حضور و بیان ژن مذکور در این گیاهان است.
