پیش‌روی فرایند گل‌دهی در گیاهان، از طریق تحریک مریستم گل‌آذین به‌وسیله‌ی چندین مسیر آغاز می‌شود. بسیاری از ژن‌های دخیل در این مسیرها فاکتورهای رونویسی خانوادۀ دومین MADS را کد می‌کنند. فاکتور رونویسی APETALA1 (AP1)، یکی از تنظیم کننده‌های کلیدی نمو گل، از این خانواده است. اولین قدم برای فهم مکانیسم‌های مولکولی تحت عمل‌کرد هر ژن در یک گیاه، شناسایی، تعیین توالی و سپس بررسی فیلوژنی ژن مورد نظر است. بدین منظور، RNA کل از غنچۀ گل شاهی (Lepidium sativum L.) استخراج و برای ساخت cDNA استفاده گردید. آغازگر‌های اختصاصی بر اساس توالی‌ ژن‌های همسان AP1 در گیاهان هم خانواده، طراحی و برای واکنش ‌RT-PCR مورد استفاده قرار گرفت. پس از بررسي الگوي مناسب الكتروفورزي آن و حصول اطمينان از كيفيت محصول PCR بدست آمده، قطعهی تكثير شده براي توالي يابي فرستاده شد. نتيجۀ توالي يابي پس از دريافت، با نرم افزارهاي BLAST، MUSCLE، Gene Runner و MEGA6 مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. نتایج، نشان دهندۀ تکثیر طول کامل ناحیهی کدشوندۀ ژن به‌تعداد 787 نوکلئوتید بود که LsAP1 نامیده شد و با شماره دست‌رسی KP070728 در پایگاه NCBI ثبت گردید. بررسی‌ها بیانگر تشابه بالا و همچنین هم‌پوشانی زیاد توالی‌های موجود در بانک ژن با توالی پروتئین استنباطی LsAP1، بود. مطابق با این نتایج، LsAP1 نیز به‌احتمال به ‌عنوان هومولوگ ژن AP1 در گذر به گل‌دهی نقش دارد و می‌تواند به عنوان ژن تعیین هویت مریستم گل عمل کند.
