در این مطالعه، تأثیر عصاره جلبک دریایی Ascophyllum nodosum بر شاخص ­های جوانه­ زنی بذر گیاه نخود مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. آزمایش به صورت فاکتوریل و در قالب طرح کاملاً تصادفي با 3 تکرار انجام شد. عوامل مورد بررسی شامل: عصاره جلبکی در 4 سطح (0، 1/5، 2/5 و 3/5 درصد) و تنش خشکی در چهار سطح (0، 0/3- ، 0/6- و 0/9- مگاپاسکال) بود. تنش خشکی توسط پلي اتيلن گلايكول 6000 اعمال شد. نتایج نشان داد که تنش خشکی در سطوح 0/6- و 0/9- مگاپاسکال به صورت معنی­داری تمامی صفات مورد بررسی را نسبت به شاهد کاهش داد. سطوح 2/5 و 3/5 درصد از عصاره جلبک دریایی منجر به افزایش معنی­دار درصد جوانه ­زنی (%18+ و %24+)، سرعت جوانه­زنی (%15+ و %20+)، طول گیاه چه (%13/3+ و %15/7+)، سطح ریشه ­چه (%10/4+ و %12/8+)، قطر ریشه ­چه (%14/2+ و %25+)، طول ساقه ­چه (14%+ و %16/6+) و وزن خشک ساقه­ چه (%10/3+ و %12/6+) شد. در شرایط بدون تنش و تنش 0/3- مگاپاسکال، سطوح 2/5 و 3/5 درصد عصاره توانست قدرت جوانه ­زنی، شاخص بنیه بذر، آندوسپرم مصرفی، طول و وزن خشک ریشه ­چه به صورت معنی­ دار افزایش دهد. در شرایط تنش 6/0- مگاپاسکال قدرت جوانه­ زنی، شاخص بنیه، وزن خشک ریشه­ چه و در شرایط تنش 0/9- مگاپاسکال آندوسپرم مصرفی، طول و وزن خشک ریشه­ چه با کاربرد عصاره جلبکی در سطح 3/5 درصد بهبود یافت. با توجه به‌ نتایج این پژوهش، استفاده از عصاره جلبک دریایی Ascophyllum nodosum در مرحله جوانه­ زنی به منظور کاهش اثرات منفی ناشی از تنش خشکی در گیاه نخود توصیه می‌شود.
