استفاده از نانو ذرات نقرهبه علت ویژگی های منحصر به فرد آن در حال افزایش است. گیاه دارویی بومادران غنی از ترکیبات فعال زیستی می باشد. هدف از این پژوهش بررسی اثر ضد سرطانی نانو ذرات نقره سنتز شده با استفاده از عصاره بومادران بر رده سلولی سرطان تخمدان A2780 بود. اثر سمیت  نانو ذرات نقره با آزمون MTT در زمان 48 ساعت  و با غلظت های 2،4، 6، 8، 16 و 32 µg/ml بررسی گردید. برای مطالعه مسیر القاء مرگ سلولی از رنگ امیزی DAPI، اکریدین اورنج/ پروپودیوم یدید و آزمون انکسین 5/ پروپودیوم یدید و ارزیابی فعالیت کاسپاز 3 و 9 استفاده شد. نتایج : یافته ها نشان داد که نانو ذره نقره سنتز شده از گیاه بومادران در غلظت 4 میکروگرم بر میلی لیتر منجر به کاهش پنجاه درصدی زیست پذیری سلولی می گردد. همچنین نتایج حاصل از رنگ امیزیDAPI، اکریدین اورنج/ پروپودیوم ایداید، انکسین/ پروپودیوم یدید نشان دادکه درصد سلول های اپوپتوتیک در گروههای تیمار درمقایسه با کنترل افزایش یافته است. بعلاوه در سلول های تیمار شده فعالیت کاسپاز 3/9 افزایش یافت که نشان دهنده القای مرگ سلولی توسط نانو ذرات نقره از طریق مسیر وابست به کاسپاز می باشد. با توجه به نتایج حاصله می توان گفت که نانو ذرات سنتز شده با عصاره گیاه بومادران می تواند از طریق القاء آپوپتوز اثر سیتوتوکسیک خود را بر سلول های A2780 اعمال کند.
